Reece is regarded as one of the top point guards in the country due to his playmaking and ball-handling skills. Reece is a traditional pass-first lead guard who always looks to get his teammates involved first. He excels at getting the ball to them on time and on target. He also has the ability to score on all three levels and is an excellent shooter.
Reece had a strong junior season, leading Oak Ridge (Orlando, FL) to a 27-5 record and No. 7 ranking in MaxPreps Super 25 rankings, falling to Columbus (Miami) in the 8A championship game. R averaged 15.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 3.3 steals for the season while shooting 57% from the field and 50% from deep.
Reece participated in training camp with USA Basketball U17 Junior National team this summer. He was also one of the top performers at the Pangos Camp.
Reece is ranked as 2025’s No. 67 prospect and No. 11 point guard though there is a wide spread of his ranking by each major recruiting service. ESPN has Reece ranked the highest at No. 58, though they also have him as the No. 19 point guard, the lowest of the four services. Rivals list him at No. 61 overall and the 13th-ranked point guard. Meanwhile, 247Sports has him at No. 84, and On3 lists him at No. 99.
Looking at Reece’s Recruiting
Reece holds 19 scholarship offers. He has taken four unofficial visits to LSU, Cincinnati, Providence, and Ohio State and has set a pair of official visits to LSU (Sept. 21) and Penn State (28).
“An opportunity to play right away,” Reece told Joe Tipton of On3 about what he was looking for in school. “Obviously I know I will have to do my part with that as well. Just a school that’s the best fit, treat me as a equal, and a place where its like home.”
The following are Reece’s thoughts on a few of the seven schools he is still considering, per Tipton.
Cincinnati Bearcats
Cincinnati was Reece’s first school he visited (Sept. 22, 2023).
It was a great visit. It’s always good to be home — I have family there. I’m close with Jizzle James so he told me a lot about the place. Just knowing that’s a place I could be, going back home, it would be cool. I was born in Orlando but I’ve spent a lot of time in Cincinnati. My family is from there.
(The relationship with the coaching staff) is good. They call me a lot, text me a lot. They’re really active. So knowing that they want me, that’s good to know.”
LSU Tigers
According to Matthew Brune of The Bengal Tiger, LSU is making Reece a priority. The Tigers are also considering Nyk Lewis, King Grace, and Mazi Mosley, among other guards. Lewis and Grace took official visits at the end of June, while Mosley is slated to visit the Baton Rouge campus (Sept. 7-9).
“It was a cool visit. Just knowing that players like Antonio Blakeney and Ben Simmons went there, those are people I look up to. Knowing that its my turn to go and put the jersey on and just having the ability to go over there and play. (Antonio Blakeney) means a lot to me personally. That’s like my big brother. I remember last year he told me to always be the last one out of the gym. He’s given me a lot of tricks and tips and I work out with him in the summer. I love our relationship.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State has been recruiting Reece for over a year, with Jake Diebler, now OSU’s head coach, taking the lead when he was the associate head coach. Deibler has remained in contact with Reece.
“The Ohio State visit was good. It’s basically home too. It’s like an hour away from Cincinnati. (Ohio State) is my dream school. Just knowing that I could go to my dream school, I’ve always watched them and was a fan of D’Angelo Russell. Bruce Thornton, who is there now, I have a relationship with him as well. It’s good to know that I could go over there and play.”
