The rookies who joined the Golden State Warriors, much like the Lakers, all have good potential as players, however, they still have questions surrounding their games that they need to address. Quinten Post
Question: Can Post come in and contribute immediately to the Golden State Warriors?
The Warriors selected Quinten Post with the 52nd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Despite limited playing time at Summer League due to injury, Post was still impressive with his play. At Boston College, Post showcased his skill as a center who can knock down threes, pass, and protect the rim. In Summer League, those skills were on full display, especially his three-point shooting. Given his good play and being a fifth-year senior, Post is one of more NBA-ready rookies in this draft class.
The question that Post needs to answer is whether or not he can contribute immediately to the Warriors next season. His Summer League performance is encouraging and lends itself well to the idea that he can contribute immediately. If Post can translate his good play to real and immediate production for the Warriors, he will see some real minutes in his first year. The Warriors do need more depth in the frontcourt, so if Post can prove he can be an immediate contributor, he will have a real role on the team. If not, then Post will only play spot minutes or be in reserve in case of injuries to his teammates. Regardless, Post will need to make the most of his opportunities to show his worth.
Reece Beekman
Question: Can Beekman impress enough to be a part of the Warriors’ future?
The other rookie that the Warriors picked up on draft night is Reece Beekman, who went undrafted. Beekman spent four years at the University of Virginia, where he achieved much during his time there. Primarily known for his defense and passing, he won the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award twice at UVA. Beekman didn’t play during Summer League in Las Vegas, but he had a solid showing against the Miami Heat during the California Classic. The big question that Beekman must answer for the 2024-2025 season is whether he can impress enough to be a part of the Warriors’ future moving forward.
The most obvious path for Beekman to show his worth is by his defensive skill. Defense is always in demand with the Warriors and Beekman can provide that. Beekman isn’t much of a shooter and could stand to improve in that area. If Beekman can impress the Warriors by showing the team he can be a lockdown defender and improve as a shooter, there may be a future for Beekman with the Warriors and in the league in general. He will need to make the most of any opportunities afforded to him to prove that though. If Beekman can’t impress enough, then there will be serious doubt in his ability to stick around in the league. It will be up to him to prove his worth to the Warriors.
