Two ACC Programs Considered Favorites for Former NBA Bruising Forward’s Twin Sons, Who Are Elite 2025 Prospects

Nowadays, it is not unusual for a former NBA player’s offspring to be considered one of the top prospects in a basketball recruiting class. However, it is uncommon for an ex-NBA player to have twin sons who are both consensus top-50 players and heavily recruited by major college programs, like Cameron and Cayden Boozer. The well-decorated twins are the sons of two-time NBA all-star Carlos Boozer.

Two ACC Programs Considered Favorites for Former NBA Bruising Forward’s Twin Sons, Who Are Elite 2025 Prospects

Not only are the Boozer twins among the most prized recruits in the class of 2025, but they are also two of the most decorated. They recently won their third straight Nike Peach Jam Classic with the Nightrydas Elite. The 17-year-old twins also have a pair of  FIBA gold medals with USA Basketball and three Florida 7A high school state championships.

The Boozers are fraternal twins born on July 17, 2007, in Miami (FL) to Carlos and his ex-wife Cindy. The twins attend Christopher Columbus HS in Westchester (FL). Carlos and Cindy, who played Division I volleyball, were married from 2002-15, and have three children together.

Who Is Cameron Boozer?

Cameron Boozer is the taller and more highly touted twin. The 6-9 power forward, 205-pound power forward is a consensus 5-star-plus recruit and No. 2 ranked player in the class of 2025. All four major scouting services rank him as the second-best prospect in the class.

The 2022-23 Gatorade and Max Preps High school Player of the Year, who has also been a multi-time finalist for the Naismith Player of the Year honors, averaged 20.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game at the Peach Jam this season. The reigning two-time Mr. Florida Basketball also shot 57.5% from the field and 47.8% from three during the event.

In addition to his high school and prowess in the summer, Boozer has been dominant during international competitions, playing for Team USA. Boozer has a U-16 FIBA AmeriCup gold medal and a U-17 FIBA World Cup gold medal, earning MVP honors on both occassions.

Boozer averaged 20.7 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.7 steals in seven games while shooting 69.6/33.3/84.8% in 20 minutes over seven 2024 contests. He totaled 24 points and 13 rebounds in the gold medal victory over Italy, giving him five double-doubles and four 20-point outings for the event.

Boozer holds 14 scholarship offers and a $600k NIL evaluation.

Boozer is an even-keeled impact player, never getting too high or low. He is an excellent area rebounder and strong passer. He is highly efficient around the rim and possesses a smooth jumper when spotting up with a 3-point range. However, he doesn’t have elite athleticism either vertically or laterally.

Here is Team USA U17 squad’s Sharman White, the associate athletic director and head men’s basketball coach at Pace Academy (Atlanta, GA), told KSR+ Jacob Polacheck.

“[Cameron] came back this year and showed a lot of the leadership. He proved that he’s a leader and did a great job of that, not only through his voice but through his play and the way he conducted himself on and off the court.

His jump shot has really improved a lot as well as his feel for the game and becoming more versatile. He’s always been a strong inside player, but he did a lot of things for us on the edges and the perimeter area. His game is continuing to evolve. He made his imprint on the game heavily in every game we played.”

Who Is Cayden Boozer?

While Cayden Boozer is smaller and not as high on the rankings as his twin brother, he is also an impact player and highly thought of. The 6-3 four-star recruit is a consensus top-5 point guard in the class and No. 17 overall. ESPN has him rated the highest of the four major recruiting services at No. 17 and is the only one to give him five stars. Meanwhile, he is No. 20 in 247Sports rankings, No. 21 in Rivals, and No. 26 by On3.

Cayden is a totally different player than Cameron. Boozer is more of a defensive player than his brother. Like Cameron, he possesses good size and solid athleticism and enjoys being physical on defense. He also possesses good instincts.

Offensively, Boozer looks to set the pace and loves to attack the rim while getting others involved. He has strong ball skills and doesn’t make mistakes often.

Boozer averaged 4.7 points on 48.4% shooting from the field in 18 minutes of action during the FIBA U17 World Cup. He led the squad with 6.2 assists and was third with 2.6 steals while committing 1.9 turnovers per contest.

His best game of the tournament came against the Philippines, where he finished with 12 points on 6 of 10 shooting, nine assists, and four rebounds. He had six games of 5+ assists, including three in which he didled out nine dimes.

Here is On3’s scouting report on Boozer:

Cayden Boozer is a strong-framed and aggressive point guard. At 6-foot-2, 6-foot-3 is a tough on-the-ball defender. He has quick feet at the point of attack and a strong IQ, understanding angles, and footwork. There is a toughness about Boozer. He is a good passer, plays well out of the pick and roll, his head is up, and has a great pace. He will need to continue to tighten the handle in traffic and continue to hone the reads, but that is natural growth. The jump shot is streaky; it is something he will need to continue developing to become a consistent threat. Boozer finishes well in the paint through contact.

Recruiting

The Boozers have received 14 scholarships, all from the same schools. I’m not sure they are a package pair, but that may be the case. Cameron Boozer has an NIL evaluation of $600k, and Cayden has an NIL evaluation of $244k.

They have taken four official visits: Duke, Miami, Florida, and Kentucky. The visit to Kentucky was when John Calipari was there.

Michigan, North Carolina, Arkansas, and Kentucky, with Mark Pope, have recently entered the conversation for the twins, per On3’s Jaime Shaw. However, Shaw said the pair have not indicated whether they will take any further visits or set a recruiting timeline.

Shaw also stated that “the two programs that sources close to the recruitment have continued to talk about in connection with the Boozer twins are Duke and Miami. The thought early in their high school careers was that the twins were a lock to Duke. Their dad, Carlos Boozer, won a National Championship with the Blue Devils.”

Here’s more from Shaw:

Around the early parts of 2024, sources started to suggest the momentum shifted toward Miami. As the year continued, the talk of the home town Hurricanes continued to grow. In speaking with the Boozers, they talk about their long-standing relationship with coaches and even attending the Hurricanes’ little kids’ basketball camp while growing up.

In speaking with sources around the recruitment in the days since Peach Jam ended, I am told that Duke has picked up momentum within the last month or so. One source even suggested that the Blue Devils have at least, evened things up, if not possibly have taken the lead here.

Favorites To Land For The Boozers?

As Shaw said, it appears it is still early in the process. While Shaw believes that Miami and Duke have an advantage, Florida is actually the slight leader, according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, with a 33% chance.

On3’s Joe Tipton recently revealed that Duke was his favorite to win the recruiting battle for Cameron. Meanwhile, Rivals has Duke winning the battle for both twins.
