Earlier in the offseason, the San Antonio Spurs signed guards David Duke Jr. and Jamaree Bouyea to a pair of two-way contracts. With these moves, the Spurs had just one final two-way roster spot open. Now, it has been reported that the Spurs have filled this last spot. According to the team’s X account, the Spurs have signed rookie small forward Harrison Ingram to their final two-way contract.

The Spurs drafted Ingram with the No. 48 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Ingram, a Texas native, spent his collegiate career with Stanford and North Carolina before declaring for the draft. Last season, Ingram was named to the All-ACC Third Team.
Ingram played with the Spurs’ Summer League team this year. In seven total games during the Las Vegas and California showcases, Ingram averaged 10 points, 6.57 rebounds, and 1.43 assists per game. Additionally, he shot 38.2% from the field and 40.6% from beyond the arc.

The Spurs’ Busy Offseason This Summer
After finishing 22-60 last season, the Spurs missed the playoffs for the fifth consecutive season. Furthermore, they have not had a winning record since 2019. However, it feels like the tables are turning for the Spurs. Despite their bad record last season, there was a lot to be excited about in San Antonio. More specifically, it was an exciting time watching the rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama take the league by storm. Last year’s No. 1 overall draft pick managed to live up to his sky-high expectations. In his first year in the league, the French native took home the Rookie of the Year award and finished as the runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year. Now, it seems that the Spurs are aiming to contend as soon as possible and make it back to the playoffs.
This summer, the Spurs made a lot of moves to help Wembanyama out. San Antonio’s include signing legendary point guard Chris Paul and former NBA champion Harrison Barnes. Additionally, the Spurs drafted guard Stephon Castle with the No. 4 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. It is unlikely that the Spurs will make it back to the playoffs next season. This is especially true when considering how stacked the Western Conference is. However, the Spurs have at least moved up from the bottom of the barrel in the West into the mid-tier category in the conference. While a playoff appearance is not likely, it would not be a complete shock to see the team make this type of leap next season.
The Last Word on Harrison Ingram
On a two-way contract, Ingram probably will not get much playing time with the main team. However, it is clear the Spurs like him enough to sign him to any sort of contract. The forward will likely see most of his playing time come with the Austin Spurs, their G League affiliate. There, Ingram should be able to showcase his skills and develop into a potential role player for the future.
