Who’s Next To Get Traded By The Brooklyn Nets?

For the first time in 41 years, the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets completed a trade. The deal will send Mikal Bridges to the Knicks and a treasure trove of draft picks over to Brooklyn. The move clearly shows the Nets willingness to rebuild, and more players from their roster will likely be shipped away.

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype mentioned six current Nets players that could be on the move as league sources have told him. Brooklyn could be fielding a wildly different team on opening night for next season.

Who’s Next To Get Traded By The Brooklyn Nets?

Cameron Johnson

Last offseason, the Nets re-upped Cameron Johnson on a four-year deal worth $94.5 million. The 28-year-old wasn’t quite as effective in 2023-24 for Brooklyn as he was when he joined them in 2022-23. He still is a knockdown shooter though, connecting on 39.1% from beyond the arc last season (career mark of 39.2%). The 6-foot-8 forward did average a career-high 2.4 assists last season, and he rarely turns the ball over.

Bojan Bogdanovic

Welcome back to the Nets, Bojan Bogdanovic! The 35-year-old began his career in Brooklyn, but his second stint with the team may be a short one. He is signed for a little over $19 million in 2024-25, the last year of his current deal. While getting up there in age, the 6-foot-7 forward has made at least 38.7% of his three-point tries in each of the last seven seasons.

Dorian Finney-Smith

The 31-year-old Dorian Finney-Smith is signed for a little less than $15 million this season and has a player option for around $15.4 million in 2025-26. The 6-foot-7 forward has been a league-average three-point shooter for much of his career but does provide value on the defensive end. He averaged 8.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 28.4 minutes per contest last season.

Day’Ron Sharpe

Just 22 years old, Day’Ron Sharpe should be someone Brooklyn would like to keep. If they re-sign Nic Claxton though, the team would like to free up playing time for 2023 first round pick Noah Clowney. The 6-foot-11 Sharpe is an outstanding rebounder as evidenced by his 6.4 boards per game last season while averaging just 15.1 minutes.

Ben Simmons

The Ben Simmons tenure with the Nets has been a complete failure. Turning 28 on July 20, he has just one year remaining on his deal at around $40.3 million. The three-time All-Star appeared in just 15 games for Brooklyn last season. He averaged 6.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.7 assists in the few games he did appear in.

Dennis Schroder

The Nets acquired Dennis Schroder in a trade in February of this year. The 30-year-old point guard started 25 of his 29 appearances with the team averaging 14.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists while shooting 41.2% from three-point territory. He has one year remaining on his deal at a hair over $13 million.
