As they gear up for the 2024 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors are bringing in several prospects on Thursday, per NBC Sports Bay Area’s Dalton Johnson.
They’re the latest round of predraft workouts for a team that’s been pretty busy this offseason. Indeed, Golden State has already held predraft workout for the following players: Adama Bal (Santa Clara); Jared McCain (Duke); Chibuzo Agbo (Boise State); Brooks Barnhizer (Northwestern); Dillon Jones (Weber State); Gabe McGlothan (Grand Canyon); Coleman Hawkins (Illinois); Antonio Reeves (Kentucky); Payton Sandfort (Iowa); Jermaine Couisnard (Oregon); Isaiah Crawford (Louisiana Tech); Malik Dia (Belmont); Sam Griffin (Wyoming); Miles Kelly (Georgia Tech); and Tre Mitchell (Kentucky).
Hawkins, who played with Warriors playmaker Brandin Podziemski at the youth level, has since withdrawn from the 2024 NBA Draft. Barnhizer and Sandfort will be going back to college as well after testing the draft waters.
Warriors To Host 6 Prospects For Predraft Workouts
The Warriors hold the No. 52 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Their No. 14 pick belongs to the Portland Trail Blazers after they acquired it from the Boston Celtics in the Jrue Holiday trade. The Celtics had received the pick from the Memphis Grizzlies —who themselves had traded for the pick —for shipping Marcus Smart south. In 2019, Golden State sent the Grizzlies veteran wing Andre Iguodala and protected first-round pick —which became this year’s 14th overall pick —in a salary dump.
Jalen Bridges
A fifth-year senior in 2023-24, Baylor forward Jalen Bridges is projected to be a second round pick in the upcoming draft.
6-foot-7 and 220 pounds, the West Virginia native saved his best for last as he earned All-Big 12 honors last season. In 31.7 minutes, Bridges averaged 12.2 points and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 41.2 percent from 3, all career-highs. Indeed, he was the Bears’ most consistent scorer and was dynamic in the process. If he wasn’t 23 years old, he’d likely have a higher draft stock.
Branden Carlson
Utah center Branden Carlson is another fifth-year senior. However, while a skilled 7-footer, the big man wasn’t as decorated as Bridges. Nonetheless, he was productive throughout his collegiate career, averaging at least 1.4 blocks per game in every season. Over the past three seasons, he’s averaged 15.9 points per game while shooting 35.1 percent from 3.
With his skillset, Carlson can have a long NBA career.
Allen Flanigan
A 6-foot-6 and 215-pound shooting guard, Allen Flanigan transferred to Ole Miss after four seasons at home state Arkansas. There, he would have his arguably best year, averaging 14.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.5 steals per game, and 0.7 blocks per game. However, he wasn’t particularly efficient, shooting 43.4 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from 3.
Flanigan is instinctual at both ends, but needs to sharpen up his shooting form.
DJ Horne (NC State)
NC State’s DJ Horne made a name for himself with the Wolfpack, averaging a career-high 16.9 points per game in 40.4 percent shooting from 3. However, he’s been productive everywhere he’s gone. Playing for Illinois State his sophomore year, Horne scored 15.1 points per game while shooting 42.4 percent from 3. Transferring to Arizona State the next season, he averaged 12.5 points per game on 36.0 percent shooting from 3.
With that being said, Horne’s game travels, boosting belief in his ability to be a 3-and-D wing at the next level.
Oso Ighodaro
Marquette forward-center Oso Ighodaro may be the most highly regarded prospect that the Warriors are working out on Thursday. After all, in the 2023 draft cycle, Ighodaro was receiving lottery interest. However, instead of striking while the iron was hot, he decided to return back to Wisconsin.
In 2023-24, Ighodaro averaged career-highs of 13.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 1.1 steals per game. Yet, his draft stock still took a bit of a tumble due to the popularity of fresher prospects. A long, athletic, playmaker with plenty of defensive upside, whatever team drafts him will be pleased with the decision.
Langston Terry (Lithia Springs)
Not much can be said about Langston Terry, a 6-foot-6 and 200-pound wing out of Lithia Springs, GA. However, he has an NBA-level body, can score out to 3-point range, and is an aggressive defender. That’s not bad for a developmental process.
