The Thunder swept the Pelicans in the first round. However, they have had it harder against the Mavericks so far in this series. In the last home game, the Thunder lost against the Mavericks 100-119. However, they were able to steal the last game in Dallas to tie the series. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was once again their best player, scoring 34 points and playing at the MVP level. The Thunder were defending both Irving and Doncic really well in that last game, and that gave them much needed confidence.
The Mavericks won their first round against the undermanned Clippers 4-2. So far in this series, Luka Dončić looked banged up. He is struggling with his knee injury and playing through pain. We saw already against the Clippers that he could not defend Harden late in the game as his knee got worse. The Mavericks won the last road game against the Thunder. In their last game at home, the Mavericks were up by 8 in the fourth quarter, but could not score late in the fourth and lost that game 100-96 in the end.
