The NBA has officially announced their Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week for Week 22 of the 2023-24 season. This week, the midseason honors went to Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis and Boston Celtics guard Derrick White. Both players helped their teams achieve undefeated records last week. In three games, Davis averaged 27 points, 16.7 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game while shooting 68.6% from the field. As for White, he averaged 20.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game in four games. Additionally, White recorded his first career triple-double last Monday in a win against the Detroit Pistons.

Anthony Davis’s Efforts Are Lifting the Los Angeles Lakers

On the season, Davis has been averaging 24.6 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game. Additionally, Davis made it to his first All-Star team since the 2020-21 season. Despite a slow start to the season, the Lakers have a 39-32 record and currently own the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference in large part thanks to Davis. Recently, the 31-year-old talked about the Lakers’ ranking in the league and talked about watching the standings in the West:

A little. I mean, it’s everywhere right now, but for us, we’re just trying to control what we can, and that’s winning one game at a time. Obviously, we try to look and figure out how far we are behind the sixth seed, but you stress yourself out. Putting too much pressure on yourself and constantly looking at it but we’re ninth right now so we just got to continue to play our style of basketball and focus on us and take it one game at a time and worry about winning that game and if we continuously do that, then the rest will take care of itself.

The Lakers have won their last three games and are 6-4 in their last 10.

Derrick White Has Leveled Up With The Boston Celtics

The 57-14 Celtics have the best record in the league and have for the entire season. Furthermore, they have already clinched the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference with just a few weeks to go. Currently, they are the betting favorites to bring home the title this season. While Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis have been impressive this season, White deserves his flowers as well. On the season, White has started all 66 games he has played for the team. In those games, the Colorado native is averaging 15.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game.

White has played a crucial role for the Celtics on both sides of the court this season. His elite defense and high IQ have elevated the team to another level. For now, it will be interesting to see if his performance this season is good enough to raise another banner in Boston.
