Gonzaga vs Kansas Best Bet

Gonzaga Bulldogs (-3.5) at FanDuel Sportsbook (-118)

Gonzaga and Kansas won very different games Thursday. The Jayhawks miss leading scorer Kevin McCullar Jr., and it showed as their lead collapsed in the second half of their win over No. 13 Samford.

Despite being a small 5.5-point favorite, Gonzaga bulldozed McNeese St. and avoided the dreaded 12-5 upset. The Zags showed that their offense is clicking in time to face the shorthanded Jayhawks.

Both programs have elite coaching that know how to extract every ounce of talent out of their players, but it has been clear all season that the perennial Big 12 favored-Kansas squad is a step behind this season. It has been more than injuries that has slowed them all season. The offense took a major step back this season, dropping from 25th in KenPom’s 2023 ratings to 63rd in 2024.

That may not seem terrible since Kansas is still a very good offense, but that type of drop with their schedule is why they clinged to a 4-seed in this tourney.

Blowing any lead against Gonzaga would spell doom, especially with the Bulldogs a top 20 team based on majority of rating systems available.
