There hasn’t been a repeat champion in college basketball in almost 20 years, but the Huskies are as good a bet to do so as anyone since Florida went back to back under Billy Donovan in 2006 and 2007.
UConn is loaded and ran roughshod through the Big East the same way it did against all challengers in last year’s tournament. Despite losing a pair of starters from the national-championship team, UConn had five players score in double figures, led by Tristen Newton and Cam Spencer.
No reigning champ has even reached the second weekend since Duke in 2016, but the Huskies’ boisterous fan base shouldn’t have to travel far to give them a home-court advantage. UConn is almost a lock to start in Brooklyn before heading northeast to Boston for the regionals, which should give it a huge advantage.
North Carolina Advance to Final Four (+440) at FanDuel Sportsbook
The Tar Heels have been dominant in the ACC, defeating Duke twice and running to the top of the conference a year after they disappointingly missed the tournament altogether.
