Bradley Beal re-signed with the Washington Wizards on Thursday. The two sides agreed to a five-year contract worth $251 million, or $50 million per season. This contract ties him down through the 2027 season.
Bradley Beal Re-Signs with the Washington Wizards
Beal has played entirely for the Wizards during his 10-year NBA career. He has put up 22.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game for his career. He was originally drafted third overall in the 2012 NBA draft by Washington. Last season he scored 23.2 points and averaged a career-high 6.6 assists per game for the Wizards. Beal previously opted out of his contract, declining the $36.42 million player option that he had for this upcoming season in his previous contract. He is still the key cog on the Wizards roster, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
What This Means For The Future
Beal will bring plenty of scoring like he has the past few seasons. He was second in the league in scoring average for the 2020-2021 season behind only Stephen Curry. He has become a progressively better passer since entering the league a decade ago and even averaged a career-high in assists last season. This is a terrific deal for Washington moving forward.
