Alec Burks Gives New York Knicks Scoring Punch

This is a tremendous moment for Burks who has bounced around the NBA for the past three seasons. After seven years with the Utah Jazz, Burks has played on six different teams without finding a definitive role on any of them. The Golden State Warriors appeared to be the spot until they surprisingly dealt him to Philadelphia after 48 games. When he got there, Burks barely received any game time, watching a majority of the games from the bench. He arrived at the Knicks last season looking for a change in fortune. That vote of confidence was given by coach Tom Thibodeau who showed a lot of trust in the 30-year-old and he wasn’t disappointed.

Fast forward one year and the 30-year-old finally finds himself a place he can call home. He averaged 12.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists on 42 percent shooting, 41.5 percent from three, and 85.6 percent from the line. Burks’ career-defining moment came in Game One of the Eastern Conference Playoffs where he dropped 27 points (9-13 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 6-8 FT), four assists, and three rebounds. Unfortunately, the Knicks would lose that game thanks to a Trae Young floater but it was a moment that solidified his spot in New York.

The Knicks have a ton of cap space to use in free agency so their ensuing moves will be interesting. Burks earned his contract with New York and finally has a place he can settle in.
