What This Means For the Future
Leonard was an absolute monster during the 2021 NBA Playoffs. That was until he suffered a brutal knee injury in Game 4 against the Utah Jazz. In his 11 games played, Leonard averaged 30.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 4.4 assists. The Los Angeles Clippers had enough to finish the job against Utah. However, trying to take on Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and the Phoenix Suns without Leonard only resulted in a six-game series loss and a Game 6 ejection for Patrick Beverley. Leonard recently underwent successful surgery to repair the partially torn ACL. Leonard is the biggest star in this free agency class without a doubt.
Earlier in the offseason, it was looking as though the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat were looking to make a push for Leonard, according to, The Ringer’s, Kevin O’Connor. Now, those teams will be looking for an alternative source of both talent and veteran leadership. Dallas and Miami may be looking in the direction of Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, or Chris Paul. They might even consider a combination of the three veterans.
Kawhi Leonard is back with the Clippers, buckle up for another Los Angeles run at the championship.
