The NBA recently announced the All-NBA team selections for this season and there were many notable players that didn’t make the list. None of them bigger than the Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal.
Bradley Beal Makes History After All-NBA Team Snub
Beal became the first player in NBA history to average 30 points per game in the season and not make an All-NBA team. Earlier in the season, Beal became the player with the highest scoring average to not make the All-Star team. Beal had a very strong season as he averaged 30.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per contest. His points and assists per game were career highs for him. Needless to say, Beal was not amused based on his reactions on Twitter.

Although Beal had an excellent season, it didn’t translate into team success for the Wizards. For the second consecutive season, the Wizards failed to make the playoffs. They went 25-47 this season. With John Wall missing most of the last couple of seasons due to a knee injury and a ruptured Achilles injury, the Wizards have certainly had a hard time winning ball games. Furthermore, the Wizards had one of the worst defenses this season. They were ranked second to last in defensive efficiency during the regular season.
Will Beal Eventually Make an All-NBA Team?
With the NBA being a guard driven league, it’s difficult to see Beal make an All-NBA Team in the future. However, if Beal’s stats can translate into team success in the future, that will be his ticket to making an All-NBA team. With Wall coming back next season, the outlook for the Wizards will improve. For now, the Wizards will have to focus on getting healthy for next year and find some key pieces that will bolster their defense. A key thing to note is that every player that made an All-NBA Team this year made the playoffs.
2019-20 All-NBA teams:
First: LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, Anthony Davis, James Harden
Second: Damian Lillard, Kawhi Leonard, Nikola Jokic, Chris Paul, Pascal Siakam
Third: Ben Simmons, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Rudy Gobert, Russell Westbrook
