With the NBA set to return, in full, tonight, let’s take a look at some of the NBA picks for July 31st.
July 31st NBA Betting Picks
Boston Celtics (+5) vs Milwaukee Bucks (-114)
This has all the makings of a potential Eastern Conference Finals matchup. The season series is split 1-1. The Boston Celtics’ loss in the series came by just five points, the margin of tonight’s spread. With questions surrounding the health of Kemba Walker, particularly his knee, the Celtics’ point guard will only play limited minutes in this game. Look for Jayson Tatum and company to step up in his absence. As for the Milwaukee Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo was incredibly efficient in the team’s final scrimmage. The scrimmages for the Bucks did show a defensive weakness, as they gave up 120-plus points to both the New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings.
The Play – Boston Celtics +5. 1 Unit to Win .88 Units.
Jayson Tatum Over 22.5 Points (-116)
One of the most fun bets over the last few weeks of the pre-coronavirus NBA season was taking the over on Jayson Tatum and his total points. Sportsbooks would set a total, and most nights would see Tatum hitting the over in the third quarter. I think the Orlando restart will be no different early on, especially with the limited minutes for Kemba Walker. The Milwaukee Bucks have given up a bunch of points in their final two scrimmages, and Tatum should be able to take advantage of that.
The Play – Tatum Over 22.5 Points. 1 Unit to Win .86 Units.
Orlando Magic (-7) vs Brooklyn Nets (-118)
The Brooklyn Nets came to the Orlando bubble with a roster that looked nothing like what fans hoped for at the start of the season. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are rehabbing injuries. Spencer Dinwiddie and DeAndre Jordan both tested positive for Covid-19 before the bubble opened up, and Wilson Chandler opted to be with his family instead of playing. This depleted roster may leave the Nets searching for scoring on a nightly basis during the seeding games. The Orlando Magic entered their hometown bubble as the final Eastern Conference playoff team, and the Nets are currently seventh in the standings. The Magic need to start these seeding games off on the right foot tonight if they hope to avoid playing and potential play-in games, and also avoid the Bucks in the first round of the playoffs.
The Play – Orlando Magic – 7. 1 Unit to Win .91 Units
Bonus Parlay
To round out the NBA’s full return here is an interesting parlay to try make a few extra units tonight.
The Play – Orlando Magic (-7), Boston Celtics (+5), and Phoenix Suns (-7). This parlay is +581, meaning 1 Unit will Win 5.81 Units.
