The Atlanta Hawks continue to do business as they send Jabari Parker and Alex Len to the Sacramento Kings for Dewayne Dedmon. The Hawks will also send their 2020 and 2021 second-round picks according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
Atlanta Hawks Flip Jabari Parker and Alen Len For Dewayne Dedmon
Dewayne Dedmon Returns to the Atlanta Hawks
In what has been a busy week for the Atlanta Hawks, they strike a deal once again before the trade deadline closes. After landing Clint Capela, they add a solid backup center in their roster as well. Dedmon has shown he is capable of producing in the right system when he averaged 10.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 1 block a game for the Hawks before.
The 30-year-old has been out of the rotation for the Kings this season after signing a three-year, $13.3 million contract in the offseason. The Kings opted to go with Richaun Holmes, Marvin Bagley, Nemanja Bjelica, and even Harry Giles at times this season. This move makes sense for the Kings and Dedmon as the big man previously requested for a trade last December.
Dewayne Dedmon joins an Atlanta Hawks squad which has Clint Capela, Nene, and Damian Jones at center. He can become the veteran presence that will help the Hawks make a late playoff push in the Eastern Conference. Sitting at 13-38 and bottom of the Eastern Conference, they will want to start competing to satisfy Trae Young’s production.

Jabari Parker and Alex Len Get Fresh Start in Sacramento
Currently, Jabari Parker has been out with a right shoulder injury. Prior to the injury, Parker has been averaging 15 points, 6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.3 steals a game for the Atlanta Hawks. Parker filled in well for John Collins‘ 25-game suspension. Parker has been used in Atlanta as a power forward and playing small-ball center at times. In Sacramento, he joins the young squad of Buddy Hield, De’Aaron Fox, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Marvin Bagley III. He will compete with the other frontcourt players of the Kings; however, especially with the play of Richaun Holmes this season.
For Alex Len, it is unclear whether he will be bought out or will be a roster-filler right now. He will be a free agent next offseason anyway so it is unclear what the front office plans are for him. The center rotation for the Kings right now is filled and it is unlikely he gets minutes except when injuries happen. The Kings may clear more cap room this season especially with the impending restricted free-agency of Bogdan Bogdanovic. This is an interesting space to keep an eye on in Sacramento.
