Details of Marc Gasol’s Injury

Gasol suffered the injury during Wednesday night’s road game against the Detroit Pistons. He headed to the locker room during the first quarter, and by the end of the first, the Raptors ruled him out for the rest of the game.

Toronto Raptors Lineup Moving Forward

Gasol became a major part of the Raptors championship run last season, joining the team in the February trade deadline.

Now that Gasol will be sidelined for a few weeks, centers Serge Ibaka and Chris Boucher are expected to get an increase in minutes at the five position. Ibaka will most likely be the frontrunner for increased minutes, as he’s averaging 13 points and 7 rebounds.

Starting Ibaka will give him a bigger role in the backcourt for the Raptors moving forward. He will also be able to play alongside Paskal Siakam. Siakam is one of the emerging players in the league for his offensive and defense contributions. Ibaka and Siakam in the backcourt will not only make up for Gasol’s defensive efforts but will also provide perimeter and paint offense.
