NBA Trade Rumors: LaMarcus Aldridge to the Portland Trail Blazers

NBA Trade Rumors

As the NBA season continues to churn along, some players and teams require a change. Players are either unhappy on their current team, or they may just be looking for a change of scenery. Some teams need to add another player to bolster their roster, and some are looking for just about anything to change up their team. While none of these NBA trade rumors are set in stone, there is a very real chance one or all of these trades could occur somewhere in the future

Trade Rumors from Around the NBA

LaMarcus Aldridge to the Portland Trail Blazers

LaMarcus Aldridge has been a quality player for the San Antonio Spurs over the last few seasons. This year he is still producing quality numbers, but this has not translated into wins for the Spurs. They desperately need change if they wish to maintain their 22-year playoff streak. According to Matt Ellentuck over at SB Nation Aldridge may be on the move. He also listed the Portland Trail Blazers as a potential destination.

For the Spurs, they are just looking for any kind of change that can help them renovate their roster. Aldridge could provide them with some significant compensation in a trade. The terms of a potential deal have yet to be discussed, but the Spurs are in desperate need of a roster shakeup.

The Trail Blazers have been struggling for the majority of the season so far. Their biggest need is some size along the interior. This is exactly what Aldridge would provide along with a very steady three-point shot. Acquiring a player of Aldridge’s caliber may help Portland make they playoffs and possibly make a deep postseason run.

J.J. Redick to the Denver Nuggets

J.J. Redick was supposed to have a different role this season than he has. When the New Orleans Pelicans signed him this offseason they believed that he would be a veteran player who could help lead the team on a postseason run. Since then, however, the Pelicans have lost Zion Williamson to injury and currently hold one of the worst records in the NBA. Colin Ward-Henninger over at CBS Sports speculated that Redick may be on the move. He also listed the Denver Nuggets as a potential landing spot.

For the Pelicans they would be ridding themselves of a player who is only getting older. This may be the only time the can acquire significant compensation for Redick. It is also highly unlikely that he will be apart of any postseason run this year. This makes him much more valuable to a different team.

That is where Denver comes in as they are projected to be contenders this season. They have plenty of assets to acquire Redick and could use him down the stretch. His sharpshooting ability and veteran leadership may come in handy for a team looking to make noise in the playoffs

D’Angelo Russell to the Minnesota Timberwolves

When D’Angelo Russell first signed with the Golden State Warriors nobody expected it to last. Everyone assumed he would likely a trade candidate at the 2020 NBA Trade Deadline. It looks like that may be the case as teams are expressing interest. According to Kyle Newport from Bleacher Report, the Minnesota Timberwolves remain interested in Russell.

For the Warriors, it may be a chance to acquire assets for a player who likely isn’t part of their long-term plans. While it may not benefit them right away, it could end up paying off in the long-term as they would acquire a plethora of assets for the young guard

The Timberwolves are a team that is stuck in mediocrity. They have a true star in Karl-Anthony Towns and some other quality players, but they still need help to take that next step. A player of Russell’s caliber would immediately make them a better team and possibly help them make the playoffs this season.

None of these NBA trade rumors are a lock to happen as they are purely speculation. Many of these teams need some change, so don’t be surprised if one or all of these trades happen somewhere down the line.
