Nobody loves trade rumors as much as NBA fans. Even with it still being early in the season, rumors of star players or impact players being on the move are always out there. How many of the rumors out there will come to fruition? Who knows. It’s still too early in the season, but big-time players are bound to be moved.
Trade Rumors Around the NBA
DeMar DeRozan to the Orlando Magic
Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer came out with a report that the Orlando Magic are looking at possibly making a move for San Antonio Spurs guard DeMar DeRozan.
The Spurs trading DeRozan would not be all that surprising. He has a player option for next season, so there’s isn’t too long left on his deal, and the Spurs are a team that is not going to be winning anything this season.
Now for the Magic to trade for DeRozan would be an interesting move. They aren’t in a position to win anything either this season, especially with the injuries to Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon.
It’s also tough to imagine what would possibly be in a return package to Orlando if a deal like this were to come together.
NBA Trade Rumors: Boston Celtics Not Looking to Move Core Players
The Boston Celtics are off to a hot start this season. However, some holes could afford to be plugged on their roster. The main hole is at center.
Daniel Theis has been playing a lot of minutes at center, and the other center on the roster is Enes Kanter. Those two are serviceable in their role. However, Boston could afford to upgrade at the position.
With that being said, Brian Windhorst of ESPN has written that Boston is making it clear they are not looking to part with any of their core players in a potential trade.
That’s not a surprising stance. The Boston front office has consistently had that stance, and the only time they moved a core player was in the trade that netted them Kyrie Irving.
NBA Trade Rumors: Chris Paul Could Still Be Dealt
When Chris Paul was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Russell Westbrook, conventional thought was that he wouldn’t be in Oklahoma City for long.
However, Paul is still there. Berry Tramel of The Oklahoman has outlined that the Los Angeles Lakers are the most likely team to land Paul. He did also mention the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat.
The Heat have been a team mentioned for some time now. Meanwhile, the Bucks are a contender again, and Paul would be an upgrade to most to Eric Bledsoe. Tramel also outlines that the Bucks may want to go all-in before Giannis Antetokounmpo becomes a free agent.
While he hasn’t been moved, it would still appear that Paul is going to be moved. It just feels like a matter of “when” and not “if.”
And whoever gets him, is going to be getting an experienced, but expensive point guard.
