The Detroit Pistons are continuing to make more moves to reconstruct their roster with signing Michael Beasley.
Veteran forward Michael Beasley has agreed on a one-year deal with the team. Shams Charania of The Athletic was the first to report the deal Saturday night.

Beasley was hit with a five-game suspension earlier this week due to violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy. As a result, Beasley was reportedly considering leaning towards accepting an offer in China that would earn him approximately $5 million next season. But instead, he opted to sign with the Pistons.
Once the deal with the Pistons is finalized, he’ll start his five-game suspension once the season begins.

Beasley’s Rollercoaster Career
Beasley has been quite the journeyman in the NBA, as he had played for seven teams in 11 seasons after being second overall in the 2008 draft by the Miami Heat. Beasley is a volume shooter—someone who can make a lot of shots and score a lot of points. This characteristic has helped Beasley as well as hurt him throughout his career.
For instance, last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Beasley played in only 26 games, averaging 7 points and 2.3 rebounds career-low 10.2 minutes per game.
However, he had a strong season with the New York Knicks in 2017-2018; he played in 74 games, averaging 13.4 points.
Beasley, 30, is a player with a lot of potential on the offensive end. He just needs to be in a situation where a team will give him the minutes to let him go to work.
Beasley’s Fit in Detroit
Beasley will be united with his draft mate, Derrick Rose, who recently signed a two-year deal with the Pistons; he was drafted first overall in the 2008 draft with the Chicago Bulls.
Beasley will most likely come off the bench and can play either the three or four spot. Detroit should take the chance and give him between 15-20 minutes of playing time. Beasley would play well alongside Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond in the frontcourt and could give the team a boost with his consistent shot.
