It’s often said that injury is part of sports. To this end, Brooklyn Nets Caris LeVert left the court via stretcher against the Minnesota Timberwolves Monday night. It appeared that LeVert sustained a serious lower leg injury.

With less than five seconds remaining in the first half, LeVert collided with Jeff Teague after attempting to block his (Teague’s) shot. LeVert sat up and initially looked at his leg then placed his hands on his head in a combination of pain and disbelief.

The Target Center hushed in instant silence as medics quickly arrived on scene to attend to LeVert. Nets players, visibly shaken, huddled together as LeVert was being attended to. He was transported to the locker room, then to a nearby hospital.

Prior to Monday’s game, he averaged 19 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game this season. A budding star in LeVert scored game winners versus the New York Knicks and recently against the Denver Nuggets in Denver just last week.
