Philadelphia 76ers Sign Marco Belinelli

11-year man, Marco Belinelli, has been signed by a young Philadelphia 76ers team looking to make a playoff push. The terms of the deal will not be disclosed, per the team’s request. The 76ers own the 8th seed right now but with the recent play of the Detriot Pistons, the 8th spot is not set in stone. He is a career 37.7 percent three-point shooter, along with 9.8 points per game. His best season in 2013-2014 had him ranked 5th in the NBA in three-point percentage at 43 percent. Belinelli’s brightest career moment, however, may be winning the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest that same season.

Belinelli has made his way around the league, the 76ers will be his 9th team. In 52 games this season with the Atlanta Hawks, Belinelli is averaging 11.4 points per game. He is also shooting an impressive 92.7 percent from the free throw line. With the youth of the 76ers, Belinelli will be a great mentor and veteran for the young guys. Belinelli has playoff experience, in his 11-year career he has played in 48 playoff games. In 2013-2014, Belinelli won an NBA championship with the San Antonio Spurs.

With some of the bigger trades and signings within the last week, this signing may go under the radar. But this may turn out to be one of the better moves by a team before the all-star break. The 76ers have talent, with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. The experience of Belinelli may be just what they need to fill in the gaps. Watch to see how he blends with his new team, and see if the team as a whole can become a better three-point shooting team.

For his new team, Belinelli will wear No. 18.
