The Brooklyn Nets are in a dogfight this season. Though the Nets boast a record much improved to last season; the fact is the Nets are only 11-18. Record notwithstanding, basketball minds can’t criticize the reconstruction work done by Sean Marks. While seeking respectability, general manager Sean Marks signs guard Milton Doyle to a two-way contract. Marks continue to improve the Brooklyn Nets.

Brooklyn Nets Waive Ouattara

After making him their first two-way signing, the Brooklyn Nets waived French international player Yakuba Ouattara. Ouattara came to the Nets with hopes and expectation of being the next international player to make it in the NBA. However, Ouattara appeared in only one NBA G-League game for affiliate Long Island Nets. Ouattara’s action was limited due to a sore left leg.

Though he traveled with the Nets to Mexico, Ouattara never played for the NBA team. Expect Ouattara to stay in the NBA G-League unless a more lucrative overseas offer presents itself.

Meet Milton Doyle

Following Sunday’s announcement of Ouattara’s release, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the Nets were signing Long Island Nets guard Milton Doyle to a two-way contract. On Monday the Brooklyn Nets confirmed Wojnarowski’s report. As per team policy, salary terms were undisclosed.

Doyle is not a total stranger to the Nets team. He was a member of the 2017 Las Vegas Summer League team as well as a training camp participant. Doyle joined the Long Island Nets after being waived by Brooklyn on October 11.

A 6’4 guard, Doyle scored at least 10 points in 16 of the 17 Long Island Nets games while tallying at least 20 or more points in eleven of those games. Thus far, Doyle leads the Long Island Nets in scoring at 21.3 points per game. Doyle also averaged 5.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game while playing 34.7 minutes per game.

Now a two-way player, Doyle will continue to play for the NBA G-League affiliate Long Island Nets. However, the Brooklyn Nets can have his services for a maximum 45 days. These days do not include time before the commencement or the conclusion of the Long Island Nets’ season.
