The Sacramento Kings have signed unrestricted free agent swingman Vince Carter to a one-year deal worth $8 million.

Vince Carter Signs One-Year Contact With Sacramento Kings
Carter’s new contract will take him through the 2017-18 season.
Carter averaged 8.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game during the 2016-17 season. He turned 40 years old this past January, but he is still a productive player. He has been healthy in recent years, playing in 73 games this past season.
All things considered, Vince Carter doesn’t have a lot of time left in his career but he can still be a very effective player. For Sacramento, he will provide a solid veteran presence in the locker room while still being effective on ends of the court. The Kings will need Carter to stay healthy if they want to reach their full potential and contend for a possible playoff spot in the 2017-18 season.
Carter is going into his 20th season in the league, during which he will turn 41 years old. He’s played for six teams during his career – the Toronto Raptors, New Jersey Nets, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, and Memphis Grizzlies – and has made an impact on all of them. The Golden State Warriors selected Carter with the fifth overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft; sending him to Toronto on draft night in a deal that included Carter’s college teammate at UNC, Antawn Jamison.
