Report: Stephen Curry Agrees to Re-Sign With Golden State Warriors

Two-time league MVP Stephen Curry agrees to a maximum five-year, $201 million contract to remain with the Golden State Warriors.

According to reports, the Golden State Warriors have agreed to re-sign unrestricted free agent point guard Stephen Curry to a maximum-level contract worth $201 million over five years. The contract cannot officially be signed until the end of the NBA’s moratorium period on July 7th.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN broke the news shortly after midnight on Saturday:

Stephen Curry Agrees to Five-Year Contract With Golden State Warriors

Curry’s new contract will take him through the end of the 2021-22 season. Sam Amick of USA Today later confirmed that Curry’s deal doesn’t have any player or team options in it.

Curry, a two-time MVP, had another superb season with the Golden State Warriors, averaging 25.3 points, 6.6 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game in 2016-17. Furthermore, Curry missed just three games all season, playing in 79 regular season contests – the same total as in 2015-16. He and Kevin Durant led Golden State past the Cleveland Cavaliers to an NBA Finals victory in five games. Curry was instrumental in helping the Warriors earn their second championship in three seasons.

Looking forward, Curry will continue to provide elite scoring, shooting, and playmaking as the star point guard for Golden State. The Warriors will need similar production from a healthy Curry to remain the favorites to win the NBA championship in the 2017-18 season.

The 29-year-old Curry is going into his ninth NBA season, having spent his whole career with the Warriors to this point. Golden State selected Curry seventh overall in the 2009 NBA Draft.
