Joe Ingles Agrees to Four-Year Contract With Utah Jazz
Ingles’ contract will take him through the end of the 2020-21 season.
Ingles averaged 7.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game last season for the Jazz. Playing more minutes this season allowed Ingles to make an impact on both ends, as he was a great three-and-D specialist. His active hands produced 1.2 steals per game, and he was fourth in the league in three-point shooting percentage. Ingles’ third season was clearly a turning point for the Aussie. The all-around play of Ingles stood out against the Los Angeles Clippers in Utah’s first-round series victory in the playoffs, too.
Going forward, Ingles will continue to be a second-unit facilitator in the pick-and-roll and pesky wing defender off the bench for Utah. Since he’s been in the association, Ingles has played the right way. He should continue to fit in well with the Jazz, regardless of whether or not they re-sign star small forward Gordon Hayward. The Jazz will trust Ingles to keep contributing on both ends in order to help them contend for homecourt advantage in the 2017-18 season.
Ingles is going into his fourth season in the NBA, during which he’ll be 30 years old. Until this point, he’s played exclusively with the Jazz. It seems as though that will remain the case for years to come. Ingles played overseas before 2014 after going undrafted in 2009.
