San Diego Padres Sign Former Gold Glover

The five-time Gold Glove winner Jason Heyward has signed a deal with the San Diego Padres. Heyward is an experienced offensive and defensive veteran who will be easy to root for. He’s the type of player that won’t have to be assigned a prominent role in a platoon. The 15-year MLB veteran will uphold his value by providing beneficiary offense and defense. Heyward is a five-time Gold Glove winner with solid defense.

Heyward was also a former top prospect for the Atlanta Braves in 2007. He was also highlighted for having great strike zone discipline during this time. Heyward has also played for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Chicago Cubs, the Dodgers, and the Houston Astros. He is a one-time All-Star and one-time World Series champion. Heyward has been known for having strong plate discipline. He also has impressive base running, bat speed, and solid defense in right field. Heyward succeeded in providing the Astros with what they were looking for when they acquired Heyward. The Astros acquired him on August 29th following the Dodgers’ release of him. Heyward can use his success in the late 2024 season as a high note going into 2025 with the Padres.

Over the past couple of seasons, Heyward has hustled to perform well. In 2023, Heyward went yard 15 times, with a .269 batting average and an OPS of .813 for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Later in the game, when Heyward was up to bat, he hit a two-run home run, giving the Astros a 4-3 lead.
