Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw will have multiple surgeries this Wednesday, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. The left-hander will have a bone spur removed and a ruptured plantar plate repaired in his left foot. The future Hall-of-Famer will also have a torn meniscus in his left knee fixed. The recovery time for these procedures is unknown.
Clayton Kershaw will undergo two surgeries on Wednesday he said.
One, to address his toe — there’s more damage than the bone spurs, including a ruptured plantar plate.
The second, to repair the meniscus in his left knee.

A Myriad Of Injuries
The veteran southpaw spent most of this year recovering from off-season shoulder surgery. He was able to come back briefly and pitch effectively until a bone spur in his left toe forced him to leave a start early against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He never returned to the mound this year.
Forever A Dodger?
Kershaw announced recently that he plans to return in 2025 in a Dodger uniform. He has a ten million player option for next year. It is an incentive-laden contract based on the number of starts he makes during the season. He will unlikely pitch for any other franchise besides Los Angeles.
Although he wasn’t able to contribute on the mound during the postseason this year, his teammates say that he was the chief cheerleader from the dugout, and Kershaw’s support has been invaluable.
A Loaded Starting Rotation
Kershaw isn’t the only starting pitcher set to return next year. Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May, Tyler Glasnow, and Shohei Ohtani will also be back on the mound in 2025. The only question is, can they stay healthy?
For his part, Kershaw hasn’t pitched more than 135 innings since 2019.
Career Accomplishments
The three-time Cy Young Award Winner has the lowest Earned Run Average (2.50) among active pitchers in baseball. He is also 36 strikeouts for 3000 in his career. Now, the two-time World Series Champion hopes to stay healthy enough to contribute to a resume that is already good enough to send him to Cooperstown.
