Tim Anderson Signs With The Miami Marlins

Tim Anderson has found a new home as he switches from the South Side of Chicago to South Beach in Miami, Florida. In 2023 with the Chicago White Sox, Anderson had a .245/.286/.296 line with one home run and 25 RBI. That one home run came against the Cleveland Guardians on July 29. It was a down year for Anderson, who made the AL All-Star team in 2021 and 2022. The 2023 season saw Anderson have his lowest home run total and match his lowest RBI total. Additionally, Anderson had his worst OPS+ in a single season at 60. Anderson is a former AL batting champion, which he won in 2019, and won a Silver Slugger in 2020. That 2020 season also saw Anderson finish seventh in AL MVP voting. During his rookie season in 2016, Anderson finished seventh in AL Rookie of the Year voting. It’s a 1-year deal for Anderson as he joins the Miami Marlins for the 2024 season.

Tim Anderson Signs With The Miami Marlins

Anderson signing with the Marlins will help Miami by giving them more flexibility with their infield defense. The Marlins will also give Anderson a chance to have a rebound year in 2024. There is some risk to signing Anderson because of his down year in 2023. However, Miami could see major rewards from signing Anderson. This could be one of the most underrated free agent signings this offseason. It also did not help Anderson that the White Sox finished the 2023 season with a 61-101 record, finishing 4th in the AL Central. The Kansas City Royals were the only team in the division with a worse record than the White Sox.
