With the season winding down, more teams are finding out what the next part of the season has in store. For the Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays, they faced off this weekend in Camden Yards, and both teams clinched spots in the postseason on Sunday. Elsewhere, the Miami Marlins swept aside the NL-leading Atlanta Braves to reclaim the third and final NL Wild Card spot. The Toronto Blue Jays walked off the Boston Red Sox on Sunday and have now won three straight and sit in the 2nd AL Wild Card spot.

CLEVELAND GUARDIANS VS. KANSAS CITY ROYALS: GUARDIANS ML (-125)
Our first pick is in the only afternoon game between the Cleveland Guardians and the Kansas City Royals. The Guardians are on a three-game win streak and sit at 72-78 this year, seven games back of the first-place Minnesota Twins. The Royals have the second-worst record in the AL and sit at 48-102.
The starting pitching matchup favors the Guardians as they send out Cal Quantrill, who has been solid since coming back from injury. He has given up one earned run across his last 12 innings pitched with eight strikeouts. Royals’ start, Brady Singer, has been anything but solid in his recent starts. He has a 5.63 ERA in his last seven games and has given up 12 earned runs in his 10.1 innings pitched.
Guardians’ batters Will Brennan (.571), Steven Kwan (.438), Jose Ramirez (.429, 2 HR), and Myles Straw (.412, 2 RBI) have all had previous success off of Singer. Cleveland is 7-3 against Kansas City this season, outsourcing them 55-26. Take the Guardians’ ML or their team’s total runs in this matchup.
MILWAUKEE BREWERS VS. ST LOUIS. CARDINALS: o8.5 runs (-135)
ON MONDAY NIGHT, an NL Central clash in St. Louis features the Milwaukee Brewers vs. the St. Louis Cardinals. There have been a combined 44 runs in the first six matchups this year, with the teams splitting the series at 3-3. The Brewers will send Freddy Peralta (12-8, 3.79 ERA) against Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright (4-11, 7.95 ERA).
In Peralta’s last start vs. the Cardinals, he gave up six earned runs in 5.1 innings pitched on May 15th. Wainwright has not faced Milwaukee this season, but his 9.48 ERA in his last seven starts does not inspire much confidence in the veteran.
Cardinals’ Nolan Arenado (.409, 2 HR vs. Peralta) and Paul Goldschmidt (.381, 2 HR) will look to continue hitting off Peralta tonight. Meanwhile, Tyrone Taylor (.429, 2 HR vs. Wainwright), Rowdy Tellez (.278), and Christian Yelich (.295) will lead the charge for the Brewers.
DETROIT TIGERS VS. LOS ANGELES DODGERS: o8.5 runs (-110)
Our final pick takes us to Dodger Stadium for the Detroit Tigers vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers. Tigers send starter Eduardo Rodriguez (11-8, 3.32) for a matchup with a little more intrigue after Rodriguez rejected a move to the southern California ball club at the trade deadline. The Dodgers had to shift their focus and landed Lance Lynn (11-11, 5.94) from the Chicago White Sox, who takes the mound tonight.
Rodriguez has started twice at Dodger Stadium; he has a 0-2 record and 6.30 ERA in 10 innings pitched. In his last outing vs. the Cincinnati Reds, he only went 4.1 innings and gave up five earned runs. Lynn has also struggled recently, giving up a 4.73 ERA in his last seven starts.
The Dodgers have the second-best offense in the league (117 wRC+), and the Tigers have won four straight and have scored 29 runs in their last four games. Look for the offenses to explode for runs tonight in Los Angeles.
