Julio Urías has been placed on the restricted list by the Los Angeles Dodgers after being arrested in LA on Sunday night. The MLB placed Urias on administrative leave on Wednesday night under terms of the league’s joint domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse policy.
Urias was Placed on the Restricted List
Urias has been placed on administrative leave indefinitely. He made a deal with the Players Association to stay on leave until further notice, pending his investigation. The leave usually lasts seven to ten days but can be changed due to an agreement between the MLB and the Players Association.

This is not his first offense. The MLB suspended Urias in 2019 for 20 games for the league’s domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse policy. He eventually completed a 52-week domestic violence counseling program and was not pressed with charges. He returned to the team in September that season.
What This Means for the Dodgers
With Urias on leave, he will likely not be available for any more regular-season games. His court date is September 27, just four days before the regular season ends. The left-handed pitcher didn’t travel with the team for their upcoming series.
Urias holds an 11-8 record, with a 4.60 ERA and 117 strikeouts. The Dodgers sit in first place in the NL West by a towering 13 games. Their playoff chance is not a worry, but the potential of losing Urias for the entire postseason is a possibility. Pending his court outcome, he could be lost for the rest of the year. This also can squander a chance at him playing next season as well.
The Dodgers await his court appearance, but Urias will unlikely wear a Dodgers uniform again. Being his second offense, he will likely have to test out free agency in the 2024 off-season. He will also unlikely pitch for the Dodgers in the postseason.
