As the New York Mets enter the final month of the 2023 campaign, the team is now making September callups. Just yesterday, as the Mets defeated the Texas Rangers thanks to some DJ Stewart heroics, reports surfaced that the Mets plan to call up prospect Ronny Mauricio. Mauricio will join the team on Friday. Today, as the Mets had a day off, New York will reportedly recall one of their top prospects. A player who was sent down earlier in August. Third baseman Brett Baty.
Mets To Recall Up Young Third Baseman
Per Mike Mayer, the Mets will bring Baty back up for the final month of the 2023 campaign, hoping his season can finish strong after a tough start.

After veteran Eduardo Escobar struggled, Baty was called up in mid-April as the Mets hoped he would spark up production at third base. Unfortunately, that never happened. During his previous stint in the big leagues, Baty slashed .218/.289/.331 in 86 games. He recorded 60 hits, seven home runs, and 27 RBI. The Mets sent him back to the minors, to get his confidence up.
Baty’s Success in Triple-A
Back at Triple-A Syracuse, Baty slugged his way to success and displayed his power. The strokes lacking in the big leagues came back to him.

Can Baty Turn The Corner?
For Baty, this last month is about showing the Mets brass that he is the future at third base. We don’t really know whether or not the Mets see him as the guy in that position. The team did seek Carlos Correa to start at third base this year. This is Baty’s third time being called up to the major league level, so a solid final month will do him wonders.
