Chris Bassitt Continues To Be A Workhorse

Chris Bassitt remains one of the Blue Jays most consistent pitchers and has been a workhorse for the Toronto Blue Jays this season. He picked up this 12th win of the season against the Cincinnati Reds on August 19th, and he’s quickly turned into a fan-favorite because of his consistency with his delivery. Bassitt has shown his team and fans how strong of a pitcher he has been all season. He possesses this magnetism that makes him enjoyable to watch.

Chris Bassitt: The Definition of a Workhorse

Strikeout Machine

Chris Bassitt can easily be recognized for his ability to get ahead early in the count when he is pitching. On Saturday night, Chris Bassitt earned five strikeouts by the end of the second inning against the Reds. He illustrated his capability to create lightning bolt pitches in the strike zone. There were several times when he was 0-2 in the count, which allowed him to earn six strikeouts in the game.

Bassitt represents a player who only uses time on the mound. He is the definition of a workhorse, and he loves to pound the strike zone. His ability to strike out the side in order comes all too easy for him. He loves to pour out strikes, and when he does it, he does it with a ton of confidence. His command is just so powerful, and how he remains focused and attentive on the mound represents why he’s been having such a good season for the Jays.

C Bass Pitches With Class

Bassitt is fearless in coming out strong early in games and has the luxury of pitching six or more solid innings for the Jays. In June of this season, he picked up a career-high 12 strikeouts, and if that doesn’t spell out workhorse, then I don’t know what does!

Bassitt has a highly respectable ERA of 3.21 in his last seven games and is building quite the reputation of remaining sound in his robust approach of getting hitters to second-guess pitches. Bassitt has, without question, settled in nicely in his first season with the Jays, and we know he has a lot more in store to help the Jays win. He’s recorded 143 strikeouts so far this season, and there’s no reason we can’t call him the strikeout king.

Closing Thoughts

You know you’re doing something right when you can dominate the strike zone like Chris Bassitt. There’s no wonder Bassitt encompasses such star quality as a workhorse. You can see how hard Bassitt has worked for the Jays this season, and his ability to deliver quality and consistent starts for the Jays continues to be apparent. We all know that Chris Bassitt has a variety of pitches (eight precisely) that he can use, but he’s relied heavily on his sinker, which has been a beauty to watch as he delivers it with vitality and conviction. Bassitt represents a player that will do whatever he can to help his team bounce back from a loss, and he also continues to outline stability as a pitcher.
