Sergio Romo Re-Signs With Minnesota Twins
The Minnesota Twins made a move to bolster their bullpen with a guy who has plenty of playoff experience. Right-hander Sergio Romo has been re-signed to a one year contract worth five million dollars with a club option for 2021. John Heyman first reported that Romo is heading back to the Twin Cities.

Sergio Romo, 37, is not the same guy he was during his prime as a member of the San Francisco Giants. However, there still is enough in the tank to be productive. Romo split time between the Miami Marlins and the Twins this past season. He joined the Twins to help bolster their bullpen heading into a playoff race.
The numbers for Romo aren’t overpowering, as he pitched to a 3.43 ERA across 60.1 innings. He struck out 24.1% of batters and kept the ball in the yard, yielding a 1.0 HR/9. However, Romo is a very versatile reliever and will likely provide the Twins with some great value. He has experience closing games, with 129 saves over his 12-year career, and even was used as an opener as a Tampa Bay Ray.
Giant Post Season Hero
Romo will likely be remembered for the three World Series runs with the Giants that he was a big part of. 2012 was probably his most productive postseason. He saved four games and gave up one run in 10 plus innings of work. Romo brings years of postseason experience that is vital for a team looking to run to the playoffs.
Romo was drafted by the Giants in the 28th round of the 2005 MLB draft. He debuted in 2005 and has a 12-year big league resume to his name. He has pitched for the San Francisco Giants, Miami Marlins, Minnesota Twins, Tampa Bay Rays, and Los Angeles Dodgers. With Romo heading back to the Twins the market for relief pitchers continues to get smaller.
