Bohm will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2026 season. His $10.2 million deal with the Phillies was agreed to avoid arbitration. The Phillies might use this opportunity to trade him before the deadline instead of letting him walk into the free agent market.
The chances of the Phillies re-signing Bohm are pretty slim. Let’s face it, Bohm was no Kyle Schwarber or J.T. Realmuto for the Phillies to consider him seriously. Trading him at the deadline will give them an opportunity to pick another player for a long-term deal.

Alec Bohm has committed six errors this season, and he’s not been an exceptional player defensively. Moreover, the latest rumors suggest that Philadelphia is looking for a long-term third baseman. MLB insider Robert Murray has linked the Phillies to San Francisco Giants veteran Matt Chapman.
Things are not going in the right direction for Bohm at present. It’s time for him to perform, and the Phillies must at least make it to the World Series if he wants to be on the team. Those three reasons are enough for Dave Dombrowski to consider parting ways with Bohm.

The Phillies struggled to defeat the New York Mets in their last game. Nolan McLean threw six scoreless innings, and the only run that came was from Bohm’s solo home run against A.J. Minter. The Phillies are still trailing the Atlanta Braves by three games with a 55-45 record.
