The MLB trade deadline is less than a month away, and the Philadelphia Phillies rumors are slowly starting to make sense. Several teams are already eying potential players, and the Phillies are one among many expected to make a move. Despite having a rough start to the season, they are back in the playoff race after hiring Don Mattingly as their interim manager. However, they still need some extra talent if they want to win the World Series.
The franchise’s President of Baseball Operations, Dave Dombrowski, is known for signing potential players. It turns out the Phillies might have the perfect prospects to help negotiate a valuable trade before the deadline.
Philadelphia Phillies Rumors: Trade Pieces to Watch Before the Deadline
Aside from Alec Bohm, who becomes an unrestricted free agent after the 2026 season, the Phillies’ roster is largely made up of veterans on long-term contracts. The chances of trading veteran players are pretty slim, leaving the team to turn to their farm system.
Here are three potential trade pieces to watch out for.
Bryan Rincon
Bryan Rincon has had a productive year in the minors after crushing a dozen home runs with the Reading Fightin Phils. He’s currently slashing .256/.329/.476 with a .868 OPS. Apart from his offense, Rincon’s defense is what makes him stand apart. Any team that needs a good shortstop will consider trading for Rincon.

The Phillies are not going to part ways with Trea Turner despite his mediocre season. That said, Bryan Rincon could emerge as a strong trade chip before the deadline.
Ramon Marquez
Another talented prospect that many teams would not refuse is Ramon Marquez. There’s always a requirement for pitchers, and the Phillies have Marquez showcasing his skills on the mound. Marquez was recently promoted to the Jersey Shore BlueClaws after his outstanding performance.

Marquez struck out 40% of sluggers during his Single-A stint. He recorded an outstanding 1.86 ERA and is doing a fine job with the Jersey Shore BlueClaws. With the numbers backing the Phillies, Marquez could be another strong trade chip to watch out for.
Griffin Burkholder
Griffin Burkholder was dominant with the Clearwater Threshers. He’s crushed eight home runs and is slashing .260/.381/.449 with a .830 OPS. Burkholder has shown promise with his performance, and many teams would want to get their hands on a young player with discipline at the plate.
Burkholder is ranked as a top 10 player in OPS for the Single-A Florida State League players. The Phillies could use their top prospects to bring in another veteran player on their roster.
Griffin Burkholder hit his 7th home run of the year, a 100 mph 372 ft shot.

Apart from the three players, Philadelphia has several players in the minors who would be of great use to other teams. Alirio Ferrebus, Mavis Graves, and Gage Wood are some of the other players who might be placed on the trade block.
The Phillies are still trailing the Atlanta Braves in the NL East. With tough competition from the Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers, and Chicago Cubs, it’s clear that the playoff race is not easy. Trading a few players and adding a veteran to their squad seem like important moves to consider.
