Sports. Honestly. Since 2011

Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Brice Turang (2) hits an RBI single during the second inning against the St. Louis Cardinals at American Family Field in June 2025.

Brewers’ Brice Turang Opens Up on Potential Contract Extension

Milwaukee Brewers infielder Brice Turang, who made his major league debut in 2023, has already thought about the likelihood of a long-term contract extension.  While it’s still early in the Brewers’ season, the idea of staying in Milwaukee lingers in Turang’s mind, even though he is currently under team control until 2029. An extension for Turang would come on the heels of an eight-year extension given to Brewers shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt at the end of March.

Staying in Milwaukee

In a recent interview with Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Turang expressed that he is open to staying in Milwaukee: “I think every player is interested in it, if it’s the right number, if it’s the best thing for them and their family,” Turang said.

Improved Performance

A 2018 first-round draft pick, Turang has improved at the plate after hitting .218 during his 2023 debut season. In 2024, he upped his average to .254. But 2025 was Turang’s breakout year, as he finished the season with a .288 average, also adding 18 home runs and 24 stolen bases.

Expectations for Turang are very high this season, after gaining massive attention playing for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, and he has carried that momentum into the regular season. Turang is already starting strong this season with 10 extra-base hits, ranking fourth among the National League hitters.

According to Brewers Senior Director of Media Relations Mike Vassallo, Turang’s 20-game on-base streak is the third-longest to start a season in Brewers franchise history, right behind Robin Yount with 23 games in 1983, and Ryan Braun with 28 games in 2011.

Brewers Face Tigers

On Wednesday night, the Brewers faced the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park, losing 5-2 to drop their record to 13-10. Turang finished the game with two walks and a stolen base. Before the game, the Brewers gave updates on a few players. Pitcher Quinn Priester pitched for Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday after he was assigned to begin a rehab assignment. Meanwhile, outfielder Jackson Chourio practiced on the field on Wednesday as he continues his recovery from a fractured left hand. The Brewers will face the Tigers again on Thursday, with the game starting at 12:10 pm CDT.
