The Chicago White Sox will call up their top pitching prospect, left-hander Noah Schultz, to make his major league debut this week. Elijah Evans of Just Media Baseball was the first to report the news. Scott Merkin of MLB.com further reports that right-hander Jonathan Cannon will be recalled from Triple-A, while rookie right-hander Duncan Davitt will be sent back down after making his big-league debut on Friday.
Report: White Sox Calling Up Top Pitching Prospect Noah Schultz
Schultz will reportedly start Tuesday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays. The White Sox selected him 26th overall in the 2022 MLB Draft. Since then, the 22-year-old has risen through the ranks in Chicago’s minor league system. Schultz got the call to Triple-A Charlotte for part of last season and started the 2026 campaign there. He currently ranks as the No. 2 overall prospect in the White Sox system, and No. 46 among all prospects, according to MLB Pipeline.

Between Double-A and Triple-A last season, he had a 4-5 record in 17 starts, with a 4.68 ERA, 1.671 WHIP, and 76 strikeouts across 73 innings. While these numbers are hardly impressive, Schultz got off to a strong start this year. He is 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA with an incredible 0.429 WHIP and 19 strikeouts in 14 innings of work. This strong performance shows he could have the makings of a future ace, and it will ultimately get him the call to the South Side for his first test to become a future anchor in the rotation.
Cannon and Davitt
Cannon is in his third season with the White Sox. In 45 total games (38 starts), he has a career record of 9-20 with a 5.09 ERA. His next appearance with the White Sox will be his 2026 debut at the MLB level. Expect him to serve as a spot starter and/or bulk reliever for however long he stays up.
Davitt made his big league debut against the Kansas City Royals on Saturday. He pitched the eighth inning of a 2-0 loss, giving up a walk but allowing no hits or runs. Davitt is the No. 30 prospect for the White Sox, per MLB Pipeline.
