The Philadelphia Phillies announced that infielder Alec Bohm has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a fractured rib. In a corresponding move, Weston Wilson has been recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Wilson had previously been optioned due to his offensive struggles. Bohm was hit by a pitch during the Phillies’ game on July 12 against the San Diego Padres. This is what initially caused the injury. The following day, Bohm sat out. However, he re-aggravated the injury on July 18 against the Los Angeles Angels. This has led to Bohm being placed on the injured list.
Phillies Put Alec Bohm on Injured List with Fractured Rib
This season, Bohm has a .278/.324/.391 line with eight home runs and 42 RBI in 92 games. He also has a 99 wRC+ and a .314 BABIP this year. After an early season slump, Bohm has rebounded in recent weeks and is back on track.
Wilson has a .194/.310/.278 line with one home run and four RBI in 22 major league games this year, along with a 72 wRC+ and a .273 BABIP. While Wilson has six major league appearances at third base and countless minor league appearances at the position, it remains to be seen if he will play at third base while Bohm is on the injured list.

Third Base Implications
Edmundo Sosa and Otto Kemp are in line to get a majority of the playing time at third base while Bohm is out. This season, Sosa has a .274/.317/.415 line with three home runs, 21 RBI, a 103 wRC+, and a .330 BABIP in 50 games. Sosa will likely get the bulk of the playing time at third base while Bohm is out, with Kemp possibly getting a few appearances. Kemp has a .247/.316/.337 line with one home run and 11 RBI in 27 major league games this season. He also has an 86 wRC+ and a .350 BABIP. Kemp has played third base a few times in the majors.
