To replace Trout on the roster, the Angels are calling up Christian Moore. Moore has not played with the Angels this season, but did play in 53 games in 2025, hitting just .198.
Trout’s Injury Derails Resurgent Season
Trout is having a resurgent season with the Angels. He is only batting .234, but has hit 17 home runs and has driven in 36 runs. Prior to his injury, he was on pace to match his numbers from 2022 (40 home runs and 80 RBI), the last time Trout finished in the top-10 in American League MVP voting.
Unfortunately, this is just the latest injury for Trout. He was having a healthy season up until now, but has had various injuries that have limited his playing time since 2021. His injuries had even caused him to serve as the team’s designated hitter instead of their center fielder. This season, Trout has been able to return to his traditional position.
All-Star Implications
This injury also has some potential personal ramifications. Trout was on pace to be named an All-Star for this season’s Midsummer Classic in Philadelphia. Philadelphia is not far from Trout’s hometown of Millville, New Jersey. Trout grew up rooting for the Phillies. An All-Star selection so close to his hometown would have been a great moment for his resurgent season.

Even if he cannot play, Trout could still get voted in as the starter and attend the game. It would not be the same as playing in it, but he could at least get introduced to the fans.
Rough Times in Anaheim
Trout’s success was one of the few bright spots in a rough season for the Angels. They currently own the worst record in the American League and the second-worst record in the MLB. The Trout era, despite his successes, has not been a successful one for the Angels as a franchise. This injury is just the latest bad news.
