As the Milwaukee Brewers played their weekend series against the Washington Nationals, they were without outfielder Jackson Chourio, first baseman Andrew Vaughn, and pitcher Brandon Woodruff, who are injured. However, Chourio and Vaughn are currently on rehab assignments in the minor leagues, and both are expected to return to Milwaukee sometime next week. Here are some further updates on the injured Brewers players.
Updates on Three Injured Brewers
Jackson Chourio and Andrew Vaughn
On Saturday at Triple-A Nashville, Jackson Chourio was X-rayed, and the results came back negative. However, he was initially expected to return on Monday, but that may be pushed back a few more days, according to Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. As for Vaughn, he is still expected to return to Milwaukee on Monday to play against the St Louis Cardinals.
X-rays were negative on Jackson Chourio’s foot/ankle last night.
Need to see how he feels/progresses today before knowing whether he will be reinstated from the IL in STL.

Brandon Woodruff Heads to the IL
On Thursday, pitcher Brandon Woodruff left the game early against the Arizona Diamondbacks due to discomfort in his right shoulder. On Friday, Woodruff was placed on the injured list. Logan Henderson joined the club from Triple-A Nashville over the weekend to take Woodruff’s roster spot.
Meanwhile, Woodruff mentioned that after speaking with doctors, he received good news regarding his shoulder, “After talking with our staff doctor and Dr. [Keith] Meister – had a conversation with him, my surgeon – and just should be a pretty minimal stint here, which is good news,” Woodruff said. He continued, “Just a little bit of inflammation popped up on me, so just got to get it taken care of and knock it out, and I should be throwing here pretty soon.” Brewers manager Pat Murphy added, “The MRI actually showed that he’s stronger than ever.”
Another Brewer Injured
Pitcher Angel Zerpa has been placed on the injured list due to a forearm injury. Rosiak reported that Murphy said that Zerpa was weighing Tommy John surgery, which was initially prescribed. However, Zerpa did get a second opinion. If he doesn’t get the surgery, he could decide to rehab the injury instead. Even if Zerpa did that, the Brewers would most likely be without him for a while.
Pat Murphy confirmed this morning that Angel Zerpa is deciding whether or not to have Tommy John surgery.

Latest on the Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers are 18-15, sitting in fourth in the National League Central after a 3-2 loss against the Nationals on Sunday afternoon. Manager Pat Murphy talked about how the team struggled at the plate. “We were bad offensively all day, we had opportunities at second and third and didn’t get it done, we weren’t efficient,” he said. Murphy also added how the team’s five key players are out due to injury, things start to get hard for the team. “The guys we have out are all some of our best home run hitters, you take the four top home run hitters off any team, you’re probably not going to hit a lot of homers necessarily that particular day,” he said.
