The New York Mets are Checking in on Kyle Tucker

It seems that the New York Mets are not giving up on making that big splash this offseason. The New York Post is reporting that the Mets have checked in on Kyle Tucker. Tucker would be a huge get for the Mets this offseason. They would be able to kill two birds with one stone, as it would fill a hole in the outfield and boost the lineup. The Mets may not be punting on the 2026 season as many fans have considered.

The New York Mets Have Checked In On Kyle Tucker

While the Mets seem to be interested in Tucker, that does not mean an offer will be made. With other free agents who have signed, such as Michael King, Pete Alonso, or Tatsuya Imai, the Mets checked in on them but never extended an offer. Even though Tucker finished off the 2nd half of last season in a slump, the Mets should still try to swing him a contract.

Kyle Tucker Can Fill A Big Hole In The New York Mets Lineup

With the losses of Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, and Jeff McNeil to the Mets lineup, Tucker could be a big help to the depleted lineup. While last year wasn’t one of his best seasons with Tucker hitting .266 with 22 homers and 73 RBIs, he still has the potential to be a helpful hand to this questionable lineup for next season.

Tucker has had two seasons with 30 homers when he was an Astros. He can help bring some pop back to the Mets lineup. He has hit 20 or more homers in his last five seasons. Tucker is also a lifetime .273 hitter, which shows he’s not a home run or bust type of hitter. He can also help snag some bags, as he stole 25 or more in three separate seasons.

Tucker Can Take The Pressure Off Francisco Lindor And Juan Soto

If the Mets were to add Tucker to the team, it could take some pressure off Fransisco Lindor and Juan Soto. Not only would teams have to worry about those two, but also Tucker. It would definitely be some insurance for a lineup that needs any help it can get with the subtractions that occurred this offseason.

Will Kyle Tucker End Up As A New York Met?

Whether or not Tucker becomes a member of the Mets is up in the air. Other teams will be in on him, which will complicate things for the Mets. It remains to be seen if David Stearns is willing to offer him a massive contract. Stearns is well known for shorter contracts, with offers around two or three years. There are a lot of options still left out there this offseason for the Mets. If the Mets want to be a threat to the National League, getting Tucker certainly wouldn’t hurt them at all.
