In Sunday’s game against the Houston Astros, Colorado Rockies left fielder Nolan Jones was forced to exit the game due to back stiffness. Jones, who finished fourth in National League Rookie of the Year voting, has battled back stiffness since Tuesday as he missed two games with the issues. After playing in Saturday’s game for the Mexico City Series, his early departure from Sunday will now require Jones to go on the 10-day injured list. Outfield prospect Jordan Beck is set to earn a promotion from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Reports are indicating Jordan Beck will be called up for his debut for the #Rockies series against Miami.
Nolan Jones to the injured list figures to be the corresponding move. We’ll find out officially tomorrow.

Nolan Jones to the IL, Jordan Beck Promoted
Beck, 23, was the No. 38 pick in the 2022 MLB Draft. Beck is off to a strong start in Triple-A, hitting .307/.405/.594 with five home runs, ten doubles, two triples and five steals. He has walked at 14.9 percent clip while striking out at 19.8 percent of his plate appearances. It’s nothing more than a strong showing from Beck, especially with his hit tool; by posting big offensive numbers at every level since being drafted. It’ll be Beck’s first crack at the major league level who has a chance to win a long-term role in the outfield. Jones looks to have left field locked down and Brenton Doyle is having a breakout campaign in center field.
Jordan Beck has been promoted to Colorado!

Perhaps this offers a reason for Jones tough start to the season as it’s been a less-than-ideal one. He’s hitting a dismal .177/.243/.277 while striking out at a 36.6 percent rate. This is far different than the impression Jones left on the Rockies last season. Jones has seen his called-strike percentage increase from 19.9 percent to 25.3 percent. His overall swing rate is down from 41.5 percent to 39 percent.
Right Field Is Still Up for Grabs
It’s anyone’s game in right field for the Rockies. Michael Toglia came into the season as the primary right fielder but he’s back in Triple-A. Sean Bouchard and Hunter Goodman both have taken reps there despite not establishing themselves as an everyday player. Luckily for Beck, he has some experience across all three outfield positions. Manager Bud Black could have him fill a variety of roles if he hits well enough to catch on in the big leagues. If Beck remains on the roster after Jones returns, he’ll be a free agent after the 2030 season. He’s also on track to be arbitration-eligible four times.
