Rockies Gear Up for Their First Spring Training Game in 2024

Spring Training is finally here! Which means we are closer to the start of the 2024 MLB regular season! Today, we’ll see the Colorado Rockies play their first Spring Training game of the year. The Rockies will face last year’s National League champions, the Arizona Diamondbacks. This season will be the 30th anniversary of the Rockies franchise, and there are plenty of questions heading into Spring Training for this Rockies team. Last season, they pulled off their worst losing season in franchise history. Colorado hopes not to embarrass themselves for a second straight year.

Rockies Prepare for First Spring Training Game

This Colorado Rockies team is already dealing with injuries, this year and they haven’t played a single minute out on the field yet. Rockies closer Daniel Bard tore his left meniscus preparing for Spring Training and will miss part of the regular season recovering from surgery. Luckily, Lucas Gilbreath is coming back to the team this season after he underwent Tommy John surgery last March. Other pitchers like German Marquez and Antonio Senzatela will not be able to appear on the mound until the second half of the season. This unpredictable pitching rotation must prove the doubters wrong this season.

Yes, this is a Rockies team trying to rebuild, but one of the best ways a rebuild goes by faster is if all the cornerstone pieces continuously play with one another and build a unique and special bond. This next month of exhibition games can be a success if this Colorado team does not get banged up with injuries. While the regular season is a much different ball game, especially competing in a loaded NL West Division, this young Rockies team can learn a thing or two during Spring Training. You catch the Rockies’ first look at Spring Training action against last year’s NL champions today at 3:10 EST/ 12:10 PST.
