The Headliner: Rangers @ Red Sox
In the rubber match of this three-game set, the Texas Rangers take on the Boston Red Sox. Nathan Eovaldi takes the mound for the Rangers. In 17 starts this season, Eovaldi has a 2.64 ERA across 112.1 innings with 106 strikeouts and a 0.99 WHIP. Over his last seven, he has a 2.72 ERA across 43 innings with 40 strikeouts and a 1.02 WHIP. Eovaldi is coming off of a start against the Houston Astros in which he held a much better lineup than the Red Sox have scoreless through seven innings while allowing six baserunners and striking out five.
On the mound for the Red Sox will be Kutter Crawford. Through 16 games (eight starts), Crawford has a 3.92 ERA across 57.1 innings. He has struck out 55 batters and holds a WHIP of 1.10. Over his last seven games (six starts), he has an ERA of 4.61 across 27.1 innings with 25 strikeouts and a 1.32 WHIP. As a starter, Crawford holds a 5.30 ERA across 35.2 innings with 37 strikeouts and a 1.35 WHIP. This one is pretty cut and dry.

Win the Series: Cubs @ Brewers
The Chicago Cubs look to win the series today against their divisional rival Milwaukee Brewers. Taking the mound for the Cubs will be Marcus Stroman. Through 18 starts this season and 107.2 innings, Stroman holds a 2.76 ERA with 92 strikeouts and a 1.09 WHIP. Over his last seven, he holds a 2.47 ERA across 43.2 innings with 38 strikeouts and a 1.08 WHIP. This will be his second start against the Brewers this season. In his first on Opening Day, he pitched six innings of shutout baseball while striking out eight and allowing six baserunners.
The Brewers will counter with Freddy Peralta. Through 16 starts this season, Peralta has a 4.67 ERA across 86.2 innings with 97 strikeouts and a 1.30 WHIP. Over his last seven, he holds a 5.45 ERA across 34.2 innings with 43 strikeouts and a 1.30 WHIP. This will be his first start against the Cubs this season, and while his strikeout rate is nice, allowing 1.3 runners an inning to reach base will not bode well for him against this Cubs lineup.

Complete the Sweep: Phillies @ Rays
In an outcome that most did not see coming for this series, the Philadelphia Phillies look to complete the sweep against the Tampa Bay Rays. Taking the mound for the Phillies will be lefty Cristopher Sanchez. Through four starts this season, Sanchez has a 3.26 ERA across 19.1 innings with 20 strikeouts and a 1.14 WHIP. He has faced varying levels of competition this season, with the New York Mets being the best. In that start, he pitched five innings allowing three runs (all earned) on five hits, one walk, and while striking out four. The Rays’ lineup, on paper, is much better than the Mets’.
The Rays will be countering with their second bullpen game in as many days. First up will be Shawn Armstrong. Through 12 games this season, Armstrong has a 1.15 ERA across 15.2 innings with 15 strikeouts and a 1.02 WHIP. Over his last seven appearances, he has a 1.93 ERA across 9.1 innings with 11 strikeouts and a 0.96 WHIP. The Rays will look to get at least two innings out of Armstrong before moving on to the next reliever. With a bullpen game coming against a Cristopher Sanchez start, expect a shootout in this one.
