Meet Nick Solak

One of the things that will keep you on a major league roster is a good bat. An even more impressive skill is having the ability to play multiple positions. If you’re able to do both, that’s downright impressive. Having someone like that in your starting lineup or on your bench is a huge asset. The Texas Rangers have a player who fits that description perfectly. His name is Nick Solak, and over the past three years he has made his living by moving from spot to spot on the field. Without further ado, here he is. Meet Nick Solak

Extensive Glove Collection

In his tenure with the Rangers, Solak has played left field, third base, and second base. He has played most of his games at second base. That is where he seems to be the most comfortable, but he seems to be willing to play wherever the Rangers need him to play. Overall, he has a .981 career fielding percentage. With reliability like that in the field, it is no wonder that Rangers’ manager Chris Woodward feels so comfortable putting him in the lineup on a nightly basis. So far in the 2021 season, it seems to be more of the same for Solak. This year, he has played 30 of the Rangers’ 31 games at second base. He was the designated hitter in the one game that Woodward didn’t have him slotted in the four-hole on the field. He has been one of the most durable players on the Rangers’ roster, and it doesn’t look like he’s tiring.

At Home in the Two Spot

On any given night, if Solak is in the starting lineup, that means that he is usually batting second. This year, that means that he is usually charged with the task of moving infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa into scoring position, assuming that he gets on base. It takes a very talented player to deliver in that circumstance. In his career, Solak possesses a batting average of .279. He won’t blow you away with power numbers, as he usually hits for average. This year has been his best year so far. He is hitting .284 with seven home runs, 15 RBI, and 20 runs scored. As stated above, he doesn’t hit for a lot of power, but he will occasionally hit one over the fence. He has 14 career home runs. He has definitely proven to be a selfless player. This is just another thing that would impress you if you got the chance to meet Nick Solak.

Team Player

In his young career, Solak has definitely proven that he is a very selfless player. He does whatever is asked of him, whether it be in left field, third base, or second base. It takes a certain type of player to do that. A player who can set his ego aside and make the well-being of his team a top priority. He has been a lot of fun to watch, and one cannot help but wonder if there is anything he can’t do. Fans are more than excited to see plenty more of his many skills. The bottom line is if you get the chance to meet Nick Solak, you shouldn’t pass it up.
