Texas Rangers Lose Two in a Row to White Sox

There are times when the game of baseball can be comparable to a boxing match. Sometimes, you’ll see a slugfest in the early rounds, and then there are times when you’ll see the two fighters circling the ring waiting for the perfect time to throw that first punch. Sometimes a fighter will win two in a row, and sometimes he’ll lose two in a row. On Saturday evening, the rounds were innings, and this particular matchup saw the Texas Rangers lose two in a row to the Chicago White Sox. The final score of Saturday’s contest was 2-1.

Pitcher’s Duel

Saturday’s game at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois went scoreless into the sixth inning. The two starting pitchers for the night circled until the White Sox punched first, and scored on a wild pitch from Rangers right-hander Kyle Gibson. Other than the wild throw, Gibson did well in his outing. He pitched six innings, and gave up only one earned run. He walked two and struck out five. After that, he was replaced by lefty John King, who went 2 2/3 innings. He surrendered three hits and one run that turned out to be the winning run for Chicago. He also walked one and struck out one. It would lead to the Rangers losing two in a row to the south siders. King would take the loss, moving him to 2-1 on the year.

Late Inning Spark

Chicago left-hander Dallas Keuchel matched Gibson’s six innings. He gave up seven hits and struck out two. He was in the dugout when his teammate Liam Hendriks made Chicago’s only mistake of the night. In the ninth inning, he left a fastball high and outside to designated hitter Willie Calhoun. Calhoun smashed it for a solo home run. It gave fans something to cheer about, but they still had to watch their Rangers lose two in a row on this night.
