Boston Red Sox Investigation Update

One of the primary storylines this offseason has revolved around the Boston Red Sox. After the Houston Astros cheating scandal was completed, the Boston Red Sox found themselves involved in a cheating scandal of their own. This one involved the 2018 Boston Red Sox who went onto win the World Series that year.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred provided an update in regards to where the investigation currently stands tonight on ESPN. Evan Drellich of The Athletic provided the update on Twitter.

Update from Tonight

According to that update, it appears as though it could still be some time before the official results are released. There are many different issues that baseball is concerned with right now. Issues such as player service time and when the season might start. Furthermore, public health is a big deal right now too. All three of those things have the league’s attention and rightfully so.

Last month, many expected the results to come out prior to Spring Training. However, that timeline was later pushed back due to some unexpected results found during the investigation process.

As is the case with any investigation, there is a lot of work and details involved. MLB has a primary responsibility of interviewing anyone they believe could have been involved. Furthermore, MLB must take those details and compare them with their own evidence. The entire process is lengthy and must be done with complete due diligence.

Final Thoughts

One key takeaway from tonight’s update is that the results will be released before baseball resumes. However, no one is sure of exactly when that could happen. It might be another week or two or even another month or two. Right now, baseball has much bigger issues to focus on. As such, trying to resolve those issues is of utmost importance right now. The investigation results of the 2018 Boston Red Sox cheating scandal can wait longer.
