Clubhouse Leader
After winning the 2015 World Series the Royals are now rebuilding. Most of the top players from the championship team are scattered around the league but Gordon has remained. Hunter Dozier is quoted as calling Gordon the leader of the clubhouse. “He’s the leader of our clubhouse and it’s really important to have guys like him around when you have a young team like we do.”

Whit Merrifield has the locker next to Gordon talked about how excited the team is to have him back. “I can’t tell you how excited we are to have him back. Probably the second greatest player to ever wear a Royals uniform. What he means to this team and this city goes beyond numbers. He instantly makes any team better.”

No Trade Clause
As a 10-and-5 player Gordon has earned a no-trade clause. But would the Royals trade away their most popular player? Jeffrey Flanagan is reporting per a source that Gordon has waived his 10-and-5 clause meaning the Royals can trade him any time they want.
Per source, Alex Gordon also has waived his 10-and-5 clause and can be traded, but he will get a $500,000 assignment bonus if that happens.

Royals General Manager Dayton Moore has said he is not considering trading Gordon right now and he does not feel this is his final season in baseball. But with the team rebuilding Gordon could be a very useful piece for a team looking to win the World Series.
Regarding Alex Gordon waiving his 10-and-5 no trade clause, Dayton Moore tells me, "Gordo wants to win more than anything else. And this is not a situation where he thinks this is his final year. But we're not even considering (the possibility of trading him) right now."
