If the Cubs Win The World Series…

The Chicago Cubs haven’t won a World Series title since 1908. A lot has happened since then. A couple World Wars. The fall of the Ottoman Empire. The discovery of most of modern medicine. Chicago has come close at times. Yet every time it seems like they’ll get there, the Curse of the Billy Goat rears its horned head.

Perhaps the most heartbreaking example, as many will remember, came when a certain fan (who shall remain nameless) interfered with what could potentially have been an out. Moises Alou certainly thought it was going to be. From there, things got away from the Cubs and they were eventually eliminated by the then-Florida Marlins. Given all the time that’s passed and the decades of futility, one has to wonder what would happen if the Cubs ever did win it all.

If the Cubs Win the World Series…

This year, finally, it looks as if nothing can stop Chicago from breaking the curse. They finished the year with a record of 103-58, the best in Major League Baseball, and won their division by a whopping 17.5 games. In Jon Lester, Jake Arrieta, and Kyle Hendricks, they feature perhaps the best 1-2-3 punch in the league. Their offense, led by Anthony Rizzo and MVP-candidate Kris Bryant, is nothing to sneeze at, either. Oh, and they can field the ball pretty well, too.

With all that, in addition to a relatively weak National League competition pool (their biggest threat is likely the Washington Nationals), it truly does finally look like the Cubs year. So, what will it look like if they actually do it? Our friends Matt Zajechowski and Home Run Inn took a look at the numbers that would go into a potential Cubs World Series celebration. If the Cubs go all the way, here’s what the country can expect to see:
